Hello there! It's my turn to share for TGIF at The Greetery and it also happens to be my birthday, so what better day to pop in and share some fun cards I made this week?!

Lately, I've been enjoying giving myself the challenge of using the same stamps, dies and color palette, but making two different coordinating cards. I've also really been drawn to monochromatic blues, so for today's projects, I decided to marry those two things to create these two cards! I also have to say that I'm
loving the Big Plans background stamp so much! I had fun pairing some of the newer release items with an older floral -- Summer Sketches -- and I just love
the juxtaposition of the architectural, structured background with soft, feminine florals. The Big Plans stamp is turning out to be so great for so many
different types of cards, and it's one I can't stop reaching for!

So for the first one, I trimmed the background panel down, so that I could layer it on blue card stock, for a bigger pop of blue with that border.

PRO TIP: I stamped off once first, on the Big Plans background stamp, before stamping on my panel, so that it'd be a bit softer and more subtle.  This makes the flowers stand out more, and is less confusing to the eye.  If you're not sure what I mean, try it both ways and see what I mean!  You'll be shocked at the difference that one subtle change can make, to really allow your flowers to POP!

That little Text Box die is a handy one.  I love that you could use it to layer literally ANYthing on it.  But in this case, I used the Sentiments Squared set because who doesn't love a two-tone font, I ask you??  Haha!

This one is fun, because that big floral cluster includes die cuts, as well as extra leaves that were stamped (without the outline image) directly on the background.

PRO TIP: You can always add more dimension to your floral focal point by stamping some of the elements on the background, so they're peeking out from behind the die cuts!  This works especially well with leaves, but you can also do this same trick with just the outline images, if your stamp set includes both solids and outlines.  It just adds more dimension and interest.  One thing to keep in mind though if you're stamping just the outlines on the background, is that it works better on a solid background.  In the case of my card, because my background already has lots of lines, the better choice was to stamp the solid leaves with no outlines.  You want to create interest, not confusion for the eye!  Haha!

The sentiment this time around, is from Opposites Attract.

PRO TIP: When placing the "happy", I made sure that the entire openings in the middle of the p's, were positioned over the BLUE card stock, and not over the white, or even half over the white.  Again, this may seem like a tiny detail, but the tiny details are what can make your cards stand out from the rest!  By making sure those little ovals are over the blue, it lets the color show through, rather than seeing more white from the background, which would make them a bit more difficult to see and the word a teensy bit harder to read.  It's all in the details, my friends!  :)

Thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!

Tell me, if you were to do a monochromatic card set, what color would you choose?  I'm thinking some pink/red cards like these would be oh-so-pretty!  Oooh, or what about all greens??  Or even yellows or oranges?  How fun would those be?!  What color would you choose to make??

Have a great weekend!  And if you DO make something inspired by anything you've seen here, I'd love it if you'd tag me if you post it on Instagram, so I can see what you've made!
