Hey Friends!! Happy FRIDAY!! It's my turn again, to share a project with you for this week's TGIF at The Greetery, and today, I thought we'd talk all about the balloons from Balloon Bouquet! I had so much fun creating with Balloon Bouquet for the last release, that I was excited to show you a few other things you can do with the balloons, to style them in different ways! The one I'm most excited about though, is using the BIG flower stamps created for the large balloon, on all three sizes of balloons! Who doesn't love floral balloons of all sizes?!
Just stamp the images for the large balloon on a smaller balloon die cut, just as you would the big balloon! Easy peasy! The flowers just go off the edges of the balloon, which makes it look like the floral pattern continues all the way around the balloon!
For this card, I used the Pinwheel Party stencils to create the colorful background! Layering all those fun colors is super fast and easy thanks to those clever stencils! And honestly, that background is so fun, you can really put just about any celebratory sentiments and focal images on top! I even blended on the aqua color on the bottom of the card! Blending brushes make this a cinch!
As you can see here, I stamped the large floral images on all three balloons! How fun are those floral balloons?! I tucked a couple of flower die cuts behind the balloons, just as a final touch.
PRO TIP:Using a MISTI stamping tool makes this really easy to stamp multiple balloons. Just position the largest flower in the same position on the smaller balloons, as you would if you were stamping it on the large one.
You can do several other things with these fun balloons, as well! I've got examples of all of these here, but besides stamping all of the elements on the balloons, as they were designed (shown top left), you can also...
*leave the flowers white (bottom left)
*stamp just the flowers and leave the leaves white (bottom right)
*or you can even ombré your balloons! (top right)
So many options with this versatile set!
PRO TIP: To create ombré balloons, stamp your middle color of the three stripes first. In this case, pink. Looking at the two ombré balloons in the photo above, for the one on the left, I inked the entire balloon with pink ink and stamped it. Then, I added orange ink to the top of the stamp, and red to the bottom and then - before stamping! - I took my ink blending brushes and tap-tap-tapped over the line where the inks ended, to blend it out for a softer, more gradient blend. If you don't blend it out before stamping, you're going to end up with a much more harsh line between colors, and you might even end up with unattractive ink pad marks on your balloon.
For the ombé balloon on the right, I only put pink ink on the bottom two thirds of the balloon, and stamped. Then, I inked the stamp up with orange ink up top and red at the bottom again. I tap-tap-tapped to blend and soften out the lines again, where the color ended, and then stamped. The difference here, is on the right, you get the true orange color up top because it's not layered over the pink. Whereas, on the left, you're seeing the same orange stamped ON TOP of pink. Fun, huh? You can create a lot of different looks and color combos just by layering -- or not! -- various colors from your ink collection! I highly recommend just playing around with colors for a whole stamp session, creating an assortment of ombré balloons! You never know where your creativity might take you, when you're not feeling tied to creating balloons for one specific card at a time!
